|Jasper J. Butera of Jenkins Township passed away Jan. 26, 2013, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
He was born Oct. 11, 1930 in Pittston, the spouse of Rosemarie (Savokinas) Butera. He was the son of the late Mary (Montante) Butera and Leonard Butera. He was a graduate of Pittston High School, Class of 1950.
He was a tradesman painter instructor at Chase State Correctional Institution in Dallas. He worked his entire career mostly as a residential painter. Jasper was also a former business agent at the Scranton Painters Union.
He was also an avid gardener in his spare time away from painting.
In addition to his wife, surviving are sons, Leonard Butera, Jenkins Township; Joseph and wife, Diana Butera, Avoca. Also surviving are aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, sister in laws & brother in laws.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Leona Butera, Ann Lukasik and Concetta (Connie) Bartoli.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Township. Viewing hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from St. Joseph Marello Parish (Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church,) Pittston.
Interment will take place in St. Rocco's Cemetery Pittston Township.
